Essex Chimney Sweep
Did you know there are an impressive 14,000 listed buildings in Essex? Around a thousand of them are actually Grade I or II, and include Hedingham Castle, the Guildhall in Thaxted, Audley End House, Colchester Castle and Hylands House.
There is so much history in Essex – far more than it’s given credit for, in fact. For instance, Waltham Abbey is the final resting place of King Harold. Proudly holding the title Earl of Essex, Harold owned large estates in Waltham and Nazeing, although is probably best known for unfortunately losing the Battle of Hastings to William the Conqueror. But we’ll let him off that one.
In Epping Forest, you’ll find the Hunting Lodge, once owned by Queen Elizabeth I. This unique example of a timber-framed hunt can be found standing still, surrounded by its medieval hunting forest.
The village of Finchingfield is often referred to as a jewel in Essex’s crown, and some people will tell you that it just so happens to be the most photographed village in England.
If Essex is known for one thing, it’s a variety of scenery and architecture. If we head to Saffron Walden, you’ll discover a picturesque medieval town that features a rich heritage and a market that has been held there since 1141.
Chimney Sweeping and Maintenance in Essex Area
SweepSmart covers all of East Essex, which takes us from Brentwood, through Epping, Harlow and onto Great Dunmow and Saffron Walden.
Thatch properties are commonplace in Essex – particularly in Great Dunmow, Old Harlow and Stansted Mountfitchet. As you might expect, a thatched cottage requires special attention when it comes to chimney safety, because thatched roofs can be highly combustible. Still, that’s something the SweepSmart team is well equipped to deal with safely.
We undertake a lot of work in Thaxted, a lovely village in which to sweep chimneys. There are stunning buildings everywhere you turn, with The Market, Church and Windmill particular highlights.
